IT’S TIME TO GET IN THE GAME AND GET COACHED BY SOME OF THE BEST EXPERIENCED ENTREPRENUERS DALLAS HAS TO OFFER. CALLING ALL NEWLY ESTABLISHED BUSINESSES AND ESTABLISHED BUSINESS MENTORS!

WHAT is the event all about?
The Southern Dallas “Coaching Connection” event is an intensive 1-Day workshop designed to link small Southern Dallas businesses with growth potential, to experienced businesses and service providers who will volunteer their time and share their knowledge in order to help these businesses grow.

The event will focus on matching and connecting:

• New Businesses seeking coaching and services from established businesses

• Established businesses willing to offer pro-bono coaching and services

HOW does it work?
Small business participants seeking coaching, will be provided space to display collateral materials and meet one-on-one with established small business owners who will act as coaches.

“Businesses” and “Coaches” may then agree to an initial collaborative meeting for the coach to provide pro-bono services and coaching.

ELIGIBILITY
The “Business” participants must be emerging Southern Dallas or minority owned businesses with potential for growth (at least 1 year in business and projected revenues in 2011 of $100,000 or more). The “Coaches” must be experienced entrepreneurs or business services providers like CPA’s, marketing consultants, lawyers, CFO’s, etc.

HOW TO REGISTER
Interested contestants can find guidelines for entry online below. Registration for the competition is $25.00 per business. Business plan along with check or money order must be received by September 30, 2009.

The Coaching Connection event is sponsored by Momentum Texas, Inc. in collaboration with the Comerica Bank and the Texas Workforce Commission.

The Dallas Small Business Development Council (SBDC) will provide counseling to registered participants at no charge. By appointment only.

IT’S TIME TO DECLARE YOUR INDEPENDENCE AND START A BUSINESS OR GROW A NEWLY ESTABLISHED BUSINESS.

WHAT
The Southern Dallas Business Plan Competition is designed to help you reach your business goals and will begin July 30, 2009 and conclude September 30, 2009.

The business plan competition will have TWO CATEGORIES:

• A start up business you plan to begin in 2009

• A newly established business open for 0-2 years

AWARDS
Winners in each category of the businesss plan competition could receive $2,000 to $4,000 in cash grants and professional services earmarked to help you grow your business.

ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to business persons who operate or wish to start a business in Southern Dallas. This area is defined as the areas in Dallas south of the Trinity River to the west of downtown Dallas, south of interstate I-30, and east of downtown Dallas. Southern Dallas includes communities such as West Dallas, Oak Cliff, South Dallas Fair Park, Pleasant Grove.

HOW TO ENTER/REGISTER

CONFIDENTIALITY
All business plans will be treated as private and confidential.

JUDGES
A panel of experienced business professionals sworn to confidentiality will judge the business plans in each category.

WINNERS
Two winners will be announced, and competition prizes will be awarded at an awards event scheduled for the week of October 26, 2009. Winners must be physically present to collect awards and prizes.

The business plan competition is sponsored by Momentum Texas, Inc. in collaboration with the City of Dallas. The competition is funded by the Texas Workforce Commission and the Citi-Foundation, all entrants are entitled to a post competition business consultation with MTI staff.
